Inspire - Gay Games DC 2022 Final Presentation

The Washington DC Gay Games 2022 Bid Committee presented this package to the Federation of Gay Games at their annual meeting in Paris on Saturday 28 October 2017.  The presentation named, INSPIRE, is comprised of videos, recorded interviews from the DC LGBT sports community and national leaders and live briefings by our committee including Briana Scurry-- two time Olympic Gold Medalist, Chris Mosier -- Team USA triathlete, and DC's mayor, Muriel Bowser.  Take a view minutes and be inspired.  I was one of the co-chairs for the DC bid.  I am a big proponent of the Gay Games movement and supporting this bid was a huge honor for me.

This Is What Democracy Looks Like - The Equality March for Unity and Pride

I am one of the local organizers for the Equality March.  I slept restlessly, the nigh before the March and awoke with an unsettled stomach.  I couldn't eat breakfast and knew it would be hours before I could have a meal.  Unease turned to elation when I got to McPherson Square, the rallying point for the start of the March.  Thousands of people were already there ready to march. AND MARCH WE DID!

#Inauguration of the 45th President - I was there #FirstBroDC

I am a native Washingtonian and have attended parts of many Inaugurations.  Sometimes my guy won.  Sometimes my gal lost.  For the first time, I was able to view the ceremony from the grounds of the US Capitol.  I was able to view the unbroken chain of the transfer of the Office of the President of the United States first hand.  I felt that it was very important to be there to hear it, to see it and the feel it firsthand.  #NoFilter.  The processing of what transpired on January 20th is a journey that many Americans and people around the world  share with me.

Mayor Muriel Bowser's Third Annual FreshStart 5K

A diverse crowd of about 1,200 turned out for the Third Annual FreshStart 5K which is one of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s initiatives to attain and maintain a healthy DC, on New Years Day 2017.

The event is a run/walk.  It was a sunny winters morning on Hains Point and beautiful along the shores of the Washington Channel and the Potomac River.

I used my GoPro on a head mount for the first time. There are a few things I'll do differently next time!  Enjoy

2016 Annual Community Cornerstones Recognition Ceremony

At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds' initiative to recognize the community organizers, leaders and volunteers who contribute to making our city the vibrant community it is.  In the Councilmember's words, "This annual event gives us all an opportunity to recognize those in the community.  Leaders, neighbors, friends, businesses, and organizations that have contributed and positively impacted the lives of the citizens of the District of Columbia.  Our father, Joseph Bowser, was recognized today for his 37 years of service on the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC).

Imagination Stage - 2016 Annual Gala - La Fete des Amusements et Jeux

I love DC.  On December 9th, I represented my sister, Mayor Muriel Bowser, at Imagination Stage's Annual Gala that was led by my good friend Kim Greenfield Alfonso, the Imagination Stage Board President.  The venue was fantastic, La Masion Francais or the French Embassy.  The large, diverse crowd was quite beautiful in "creative black tie."  And one of Washignton's great artists, Septime Webre, received the Imagination Stage Award.

Transgender Day of Remembrance DC 2016 - TDOR

"The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was founded in 1998 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith - a transgender graphic designer, columnist, and activist - to memorialize the murder of Rita Hester in Allston Massachusetts.  What initially began as a web-based project has since burgeoned into an international day of action; in 2014 TDORs were observed in over 200 cities"  Quoted from the program book of the Washington DC observance 20 November 2016
